Bonus points were first introduced on February 8th 2014.

Applicable from Feb 8, 2014 - March 31, 2014:
The CITO Bonus: Points for picking up trash! 1 point for one or more 13+ gallon bag(s) of trash picked up when retrieving OR dropping. Bonus is one point only for one or more bags of trash collected per move, and not per bag of trash collected. (Trash does not have to be very close to the cache but can't be from your own house or car!) Photo of bag full of collected trash must be uploaded to a TB log to count. And, photo(s) of Mr. Potato helping to collect trash and/or the trash on the ground before being picked is encouraged.

Applicable from Feb 8, 2014 - March 31, 2014 - Dec 31, 2015:
First time ever spud mover (retrieve or drop) bonus : 1 point.
Regarding geocaching children of geocaching parents who play this game: for this bonus, I will count children as a new player (for the bonus) if they are old enough to write their own logs (and do so) (of course they do need to actually be present when the cache is found and the spud grabbed).

Applicable from Feb 8, 2014 until March 31, 2014 - extended to April 30, 2014:
The Hug the Potomac (no islands) Bonus : 3 points for drops a) in MD or VA within 20 miles of the Potomac River from Harpers Ferry to the I495 Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge, b) and the cache does not require a boat to reach (and anything on an island in the Potomac River will be considered needing a boat to reach even though in certain conditions some may be reached by wading), and c) (to discourage C&D drops) the terrain is 2 or greater or the final hide is 0.2 or more from parking.


Applicable from April 1, 2014 until June 30, 2014:
The often passed over Multi and Letterbox incentive (NO restriction on island caches): 3 point for drops a) in a letterbox hybrid or multi cache types, and b) (to discourage C&D drops) the terrain is 2 or greater or the final hide is 0.2 or more from parking.

Applicable from May 1, 2014 until June 30, 2014:
The new cache incentive: 3 points for drops in a) caches the spud has not been placed in before, and b) (to discourage C&D drops) the terrain is 2 or greater or the final hide is 0.2 or more from parking.

Applicable from April 1, 2014 until August 2017:
The (updated) CITO Bonus: Points for picking up trash! 2 points for one or more 13+ gallon bag(s) of trash (1 point for a bag 1/2 that size) picked up when retrieving or dropping. Each team can score CITO points at each grab and each drop they make, with a maximum of 4 points possible per full move. (Trash does not have to be very close to the cache but can't be from your own house or car!) Photo of bag full of collected trash must be uploaded to a TB log to count. And, photo(s) of Mr. Potato helping to collect trash and/or the trash on the ground before being picked is encouraged.
Applicable from July 1, 2014 until December 31, 2014:
The lonely cache incentive: 2 points for drops in a) caches the spud has not been placed in before, and b) the cache has not been found for 6 or more months. EXCEPT, if a boat is required (or recommended as per the cache page description) to reach the cache, then to receive this lonely cache bonus, the cache must not have been found for 1 or more years (as well as the spud not having been placed in the cache before). (The longer time required for boat caches is due to their usual inaccessibility in cold months.) Both a & b must apply for this bonus.

Applicable from Jan 1, 2015 until March 31, 2015:

Applicable from Jan 1, 2016 onwards:
The (updated) lonely cache incentive: 3 points for drops in caches that have not been found for 6 or more months. EXCEPT, if a boat is required (or recommended as per the cache page description) to reach the cache, then to receive this lonely cache bonus, the cache must not have been found for 1 or more years. (The longer time required for boat caches is due to their typical inaccessibility in cold months.)

Applicable from September 2017 onwards:
The (new) CITO Bonus: Points for picking up trash! 6 points for one or more 13+ gallon bag(s) of trash (3 point for a bag 1/2 that size) picked up when retrieving or dropping. Each team can score CITO points at each grab and each drop they make, with a maximum of 12 points possible per full move. (Trash does not have to be very close to the cache but can't be from your own house or car!) Photo of bag full of collected trash must be uploaded to a TB log to count. And, photo(s) of Mr. Potato helping to collect trash and/or the trash on the ground before being picked is encouraged.
